Notre Dame Football

Notre Dame has one of the most winning traditions in college football. They have won more national championships then anybody else with 11 and also has produced the most all americans. They are tied with the most heisman trophy winners at 7. Notre Dame has the 2nd highest winning percentage in NCAA history. In 120 years they have only had 12 losing seasons. There are 48 players and coaches in the College Football Hall of Fame for Notre Dame.

Now most of this accomplishments came back in the glory days which happend from 1924 to 1988. In recent years they have not had a whole lot of success. But this years team did show some of the spunk the teams had back in the days with a blowout win verus Hawaii in this years hawaiian bowl.

Another tradtion is before every game every player slaps the "play like a champion today" sign. The sign might just look like a square piece of wood paintied gold with blue letters but to the student body and players its much more. The slogan came from the school founder Edward Sorin from around 1842. But it was Lou Holtz a former coach who came up with the idea of the sign. The sign encourages the players to go out on the field and leave it all out there.
